How a move is confirmed

SEC Finder keeps every headquarters address each company has used (by CIK), with when it first and last appeared in its filings. A move is reported only when the old address stopped appearing after the new one started β€” companies that use two addresses in parallel, or a parent company's address on a joint filing, are not reported.

Each move is then checked against the company's current SEC record, whether the company announced a relocation in a filing, and whether either address belongs to a registered agent or a c/o address (a paperwork change, not a move β€” hidden by default).
